ISCO CELEBRATES ITS 35th ANNIVERSARY

ISCO reached its 35th Anniversary on 9th October 2019

For 35 years, the International Spill Control Organisation (ISCO) has been dedicated to improving worldwide preparedness in response to oil and chemical spills.

It was back in 1983 that representatives of the US, British, French and Swedish spill control associations (SCAA, BOSCA, SYCOPOL and SWEMARPOL respectively) came together at the International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC) in Texas to discuss the formation of ISCO. The organisation was incorporated in London the following year on 9th October 1984.

To mark the occasion ISCO Secretary Matthew Sommerville has published an article “ISCO’s History” in issue 705 of the ISCO Newsletter. To read his article, visit www.spillcontrol.org, look under News, and Newsletter, select and download ISCO 705 Newsletter.  Matthew’s article is on Page 7.
