New IMarEST Ocean Decade ambassador sets out priorities

Niru Dorrian, recently appointed IMarEST ambassador to the United Nations Ocean Decade, has committed to promoting ocean sustainability by leveraging the expertise of IMarEST members. Serving a three-year term, Dorrian will prioritize advancing research, fostering equity in the marine sector, and strengthening global partnerships. He succeeds Dr. Stephen da Mora and has been influential in IMarEST, notably co-founding the Marine Mammal Special Interest Group. Peter Sheppard, Head of Technical and Policy at IMarEST, praised Dorrian’s dedication and passion for marine science and conservation.
