Mr. David Dickins (DF Dickins Associates) will share his extensive experience on Arctic oil spill responses.

 

David Dickins has over 45 years of project management experience focusing on environmental issues associated with offshore oil exploration and development, and marine transportation in the Arctic. His company, DF Dickins Associates, founded in Yellowknife in 1978, served government and industry clients in the United States, Canada, Scandinavia, Kazakhstan, and Europe. He worked on research issues related to cold water oil spill detection, response, and recovery for most of his career, including eleven large-scale experimental field spills in ice and cold water covering the period from 1974 to 2016. Locations included the Canadian Beaufort Sea, Baffin Island, Canadian East Coast, Svalbard, and the Norwegian North Sea. In addition, David managed several multi-sensor remote sensing programs focusing on oil under/in ice at the CRREL facility in New Hampshire. He co-authored the comprehensive “Guide to oil spill response in snow and ice conditions in the Arctic” for the Arctic Council and IMO in 2015/16. He has authored or co-authored over 75 conference papers, journal articles and textbook chapters.

 

The ExxonMobil Oil Spill Response Knowledge Transfer Webinar series is a monthly webinar to allow highly experienced OSR experts to share their knowledge to attendees. The webinar series will provide a platform to communicate, transfer, and preserve OSR knowledge, and to share insights and perspectives from industry, academia, oil spill responders, and other oil spill response experts.

The webinar series started on Tuesday, August 10 from 9 – 10 am Houston time and continue every first Tuesday of the following months. We intend to continue the webinars indefinitely depending on response and our ability to schedule appropriate speakers.
