EM OSR Knowledge Transfer Webinar will be resumed on March 7, 2023. Our guest speaker is Dr. Erich Gundlach, and he will talk about “Oil Spill Assessment and Cleanup through the Ages”.

Dr Erich Gundlach has been involved with oil spill response and assessment since 1976 and has published extensively on the interaction of oil pollution and sediments, environmental sensitivity analyses and mapping, emergency response management, and the physical and biological effects of oil pollution. He has studied and advised on some of the largest oil spills in history including Metula, Ixtoc 1, Amoco Cadiz, Exxon Valdez and Deepwater Horizon, and provided environmental guidance to major pipeline development projects running from Azerbaijan to Turkey and Turkey to Austria. He is currently Project Director in Nigeria of the largest cleanup and restoration of contaminated mangroves ever undertaken and an advisor to the United Nations Environment Program regarding oil and gas development in Uganda.

The ExxonMobil Oil Spill Response Knowledge Transfer Webinar series is a monthly webinar to allow highly experienced OSR experts to share their knowledge to attendees. The webinar series will provide a platform to communicate, transfer, and preserve OSR knowledge, and to share insights and perspectives from industry, academia, oil spill responders, and other oil spill response experts.

The webinar series started in August 2021 and continued every first Tuesday of the following months. We intend to continue the webinars indefinitely depending on response and our ability to schedule appropriate speakers.
