The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) in collaboration with the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) is organising a major regional exercise concerning response to a shipping pollution incident, 7-11 July 2025 inclusive. The exercise is organized under the framework of the OPRC Convention and the Nairobi Convention’s Emergency Protocol; it is being supported by various international organizations. The primary objectives are to exercise both the Kenyan national marine oil pollution response system and the regional and international cooperation mechanisms.
