ISCO Council member Larissa Montas Bravo was a lead author of a recently published article focused on pathogenic fungi in beach sand and marine water.
This is an emerging topic in Europe and the US; a unique aspect of the study was the use of high incubation temperatures and specific media targeting fungi with the capacity to cause systemic infection.
