Finland has become the latest State to ratify the 2010 HNS Convention, bringing the number of Contracting Parties to 13. The Ambassador of Finland to the United Kingdom, H.E. Teemu Turunen, met with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, on 30 June 2026 to formally deposit the State’s instrument of ratification.
This latest development comes just one month after IMO confirmed that, following the fulfilment of all the necessary conditions, the long awaited 2010 HNS Convention will enter into force on 29 November 2027.
