As we kick off the new Fiscal Year, we wanted to share a few highlights from our busy summer out on the tank.
API Dispersant Workshop
In June we hosted the annual API workshop, where experts from around the world gathered to discuss the science and operations of dispersants, and to witness dispersant demonstrations out on the tank.
LGM Boom Testing
We closed out June with a few smaller tests, one of which was LGM’s boom testing. LGM came back in to continue prototype testing, and they are scheduled to return in October as they finalize their boom design.
ExxonMobil SL Ross Dispersant Testing
In July we hosted ExxonMobil and SL Ross for dispersant testing. Over the course of two weeks, we assisted with the evaluation of multiple dispersants and their effectiveness when applied to different oils.
USCG OSRT Training
USCG OSRT TrainingWe conducted our second and final 2026 Coast Guard OSRT training in August, where we helped USCG responders get hands-on time with spill control equipment on the tank, along with classroom instruction on various response topics. We look forward to hosting the next round of trainings starting in April 2027!
BSEE Dispersant Testing
BSEE Dispersant TestingBSEE closed out the summer with more dispersant testing on the tank to evaluate their effectiveness on various oils. Testing will recommence in the winter to further evaluate temperature effects on each dispersant/oil combination.
USCG Low Visibility Testing
USCG Low Visibility TestingOver the course of two weeks, the USCG R&D team was on-site evaluating sensor-based detection of oil plumes under low-visibility conditions (e.g., fog, rain). The team will be returning to the tank later in October to complete their testing with additional sensors.

Our facility has availability as early as November/December, and we can support testing on the tank, or in the high bay/lab depending on your needs this winter.
