Oil spill reported after regional containership “Sealloyd Arc” takes on water and sinks offshore Phuket, Thailand

An oil spill has been reported following the sinking of a small regional containership offshore Phuket in Thailand.

An aerial survey shows the slick extending for approximately 5 miles, although following OSR modelling, the Thai authorities believe it is unlikely to threaten the shoreline, although it could damage sensitive marine areas.    

They have deployed boom and are spraying dispersant.
