IMO R & D forum held in Singapore

The IMO Research and Development (R&D) Forum “From Fossil to Future: Marine Pollution Preparedness in the Age of Alternative Fuels” was recently held in Singapore, and brought together regulators, scientists, industry representatives and emergency responders to address emerging pollution response challenges linked to maritime energy transition.     Held over two days and hosted by Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority, with support from China, the Forum examined preparedness and response considerations for a range of alternative marine fuels, including LNG, LPG, methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, biofuels and e-fuels. Participants explored how the different characteristics of these fuels could affect pollution incidents and response strategies as their use in shipping continues to expand.
