The countdown to the International Oil Spill Science Conference 2026 (IOSSC 2026) is underway! Taking place October 13-16 at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, the conference will bring together the international spill science and response community to share research, exchange practical experience, and strengthen collaboration.
Building on the success of IOSSC 2022 in Halifax, this year’s conference will explore advances in spill prevention, preparedness, response, and environmental rehabilitation. Researchers, responders, government representatives, industry professionals, students, and Indigenous community members are warmly invited to participate.
The program opens with the ITAC Annual Meeting on October 13, followed by keynote presentations, technical sessions, workshops, interactive panels, and poster presentations on October 14-16. Discussions will cover spill monitoring and modelling, response technologies, environmental impacts and recovery, and emerging challenges involving oil and Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS). Featured activities will also highlight Indigenous knowledge, engagement, and collaboration in spill preparedness and response.
Beyond the presentations, participants will have opportunities to meet colleagues from around the world, connect with researchers and practitioners, and explore new partnerships through networking activities and discussions throughout the conference.
The conference program and detailed schedule are available to help participants explore the sessions, presentations, and activities on offer. With the conference fast approaching, the organizers encourage you to review the program and make plans to join them in Montreal.
