Dark Fleet Oil Tanker Caught in Recent Collision Heads to China

The dark-fleet oil tanker Ceres I, suspected of transporting sanctioned Iranian oil, is currently en route to Zhoushan, China. Known for concealing its activities by frequently switching off its transponder and operating under a flag of convenience, Ceres I has been linked to the dark fleet network. In July, it collided with Hafnia Nile, a merchant vessel, near Malaysia, igniting both vessels. Although detained briefly by Malaysian authorities, Ceres I later resumed its journey. Attempts to identify the tanker’s owner, Ceres Shipping Ltd. based in Hong Kong, have been unsuccessful due to its limited public presence.
