As we go to press, several sources (NOAA, Skytruth on LinkedIn) are reporting that an inactive, shut-in oil well is leaking in the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America) off the coast of Louisiana this week. The leak can clearly be seen in satellite imagery taken on April 28. The slicks resulting from this leak appear as silvery iridescent patches scattered around Garden Island Bay, and in a large semicircle to the south of the South Pass outlet channel.
