Oil spill reported as Containership KMTC Surabaya collides with bulk carrier Glengyle near Ho Chi Minh City

On Friday 25th April, the containership KMTC Surabaya collided with bulk carrier Glengyle on Vietnam’s Long Tau River, near Ho Chi Minh City, partially sinking the Glengyle, and reportedly resulting in a fuel oil spill.  No casualties have been reported and the quantity of oil spilled is currently unknown.   Authorities deployed rescue vessels to monitor the situation and placed boom around the accident site to contain the spill.
