Leadership & Volunteer Opportunities
ISCO will create opportunities to help student members learn and develop grow leadership skills.
Paid student members can assist:
- volunteering in ISCO activities,
- being a mentor to another student
- organizing a membership recruitment event in their campus.
Students can collaborate in a working group within ISCO or with an ISCO member.
Recognition may be provided by a letter stating the number of hours they volunteered. These letters are normally attached to resumes
Networking
ISCO will create opportunities for students to interact with each other, with our members, and our members’ partners in industry and throughout the world.
Networking breakfast at conferences. Students will have opportunity to meet each other and to meet professional ISCO members.

ISCO student news
ISCO will post articles in LinkedIn and website (weekly, monthly? Frequency TBC) focused on particularly exemplary work, internships, capstone projects, completed by student members or informing on students who are engaged and out doing relevant activities.
Access to Information (Student Forum)
ISCO plans on creating an online forum where students can interact and ask questions which may be answered by other students or members. (under construction)
Webinars
Monthly or bi-monthly webinars with talks by Industry partners, ISCO Council members, and high profile stakeholders/actors in the marine spill response industry.
Post video clips of the webinars in ISCO’s LinkedIn page. Full access to webinars in student member only section of webpage.
Need to consider pros and cons of restricted access to webinars as they could be part of a successful marketing strategy to capture new members.
